Eat Your Vegies While You Can, Kiddo!

A regular size lunch set placed before me, a normal 500 calorie boost for 175 cm high and 80 kg me. It’s enough to give me energy for the remaining office hours. My friend ordered large amount of lunch, suited his body mass he said. It was a supportive statement for “the larger one species is, the larger amount of calorie intake they need” indeed.

A Brachiosaurus dinosaur 40 to 50 feet tall lived on the abundant rain forest consumes 200 to 400 kilograms (440 to 880 lb.) of plant matter daily. And after millions of years apart, adult African elephant can only consume as much as 150 kg (330 lb.) of food daily. Throughout history, the species roaming the earth is relatively smaller due to the challenges to find source of food.

Perhaps in million years ahead, astronauts from another planet set foot on earth saying “Home Base, are you sure there is a living intelligent being on earth? We only see crawling shiny winged spiny legged creatures which we called back home cockroach.”
